Giovanni Battista Gaiani was an Italian fencing master and soldier during the first half of the 17th century. In 1619 he published two books dedicated to courtiers of Savoy.
According to the introduction of Arte di Maneggiar la Spada a Piedi et a Cavallo, Gaiani had been practising for 26 years at the date of publication, so since 1593. (p. xiii of the introduction)
