Über die Fechtkunst und den Ringkampf ("On the Art of Fencing and Wrestling", MS 963) is a German fencing manual created in 1538 by Hans Czynner.[1] The original currently rests in the holdings of the Universitätsbibliothek Karl-Franzens in Graz, Austria. The first half of the text consists of original illustrated plays and teachings, presumably by Czynner. Afterward is a redaction of several treatises by masters from the tradition of Johannes Liechtenauer, not unlike the major anthology manuscripts from the previous century. This manuscript seems to have never been completed, as there are dozens of blank pages at the back of the text, as well as several plays at the end of the illustrated section with blank space as though images were intended.
