Professionally, I am an "essentially retired" engineer; my professional life centering around ship design, construction, and repair. My primary personal interests outside the family are aviation and western European martial arts. I've done a bit of research into the physics side of sword design, with the goal of understanding what it takes to differentiate a prime weapon from an also-ran. I'm still trying to sort all of that out from the raft of material claiming to be data.
