Folia 783-784 of the MS XXIV were copied by Apostolo Zeno in 1699 from the MS Ludwig XV 13, an Italian fencing manual authored by Fiore de'i Liberi between 1400 and 1410. The original currently rests in the Collezione Fontanini of the Biblioteca Guarneriana in San Daniele del Friuli, Italy. This copy comprises only the preface by Liberi, and was written for Zeno's colleague Giusto Cardinal Fontanini and sent on 4 July 1699.[1] This manuscript was discovered decades before that from which it was copied, and was the first clue that Liberi had authored additional works aside from the Flos Duellatorum.
